What is XRechnung?

XRechnung is the official e-invoice format for the German Federal Government (Bund). This format facilitates the sending of invoices via the Peppol network. The Coordination Office for IT Standards (KoSIT) is responsible for setting up and maintaining the Peppol system for e-invoicing in Germany. XRechnung is the official format, available only in XML, that enables the sending of electronic invoices via Peppol.

XRechnungen are fully compliant with the EU standard 16931

From 1 January 2025, all companies must adopt e-invoicing and ensure that their electronic invoices comply with the 16931 standard. As a solution tailored to this standard, XRechnung is ready for seamless use across Europe.
